Technical Visits - Qatar

QatarThis tour will operate on Thursday, March 6th, 2008 only.

8 AM   Convene at the jobsite of Doha Convention Center & Tower for introductions and orientations followed by brief presentation of the project.

9 AM   Depart for The Pearl-Qatar, a Riviera-style man-made island developed in an exclusive environment in Doha, Qatar and the Middle East's most glamorous address.  Covering 400 hectares of reclaimed land, it is Qatar's first international real estate venture. Part of the development includes 32 highrise residential towers located along the waterfront of the marina.

Noon   Break for Lunch.

1:30 PM   Depart for Education City, a 2,500-acre campus on the outskirts of Doha which hosts branch campuses of some of the world's leading universities including Weill Cornell Medical School, Texas A&M and Carnegie Mellon Business School, as well as numerous other educational and research institutions.  The campus is currently under construction with some schools already occupied and functioning.  Architects involved in this project include Arata Isazaki, Rem Koolhaus, Raphael Vinoly and Legoretta.

4 PM   Visit Sports Tower, a 300 meter tall mixed use facility located in Doha's Sports City.  Originally built as the symbol for the 2006 Asian Games, with the flame located at the top during the Games, it also houses a hotel and restaurant at the top.

For some, an alternative to the afternoon activities could be to visit Doha's famous Souqs, an oldenday bazaar of shops and markets where the Bedouin and city-dwellers used to trade and where much of the shopping still takes place.

5:30 PM   Wrap-up and Social Hour; Dinner for those staying the evening.
